Become an Ambassador

You already know people worth knowing. Help make sure their stories don't go unnoticed.

Great people don't always put themselves forward. Great businesses don't always shout about what they've achieved. Sometimes recognition starts because one person notices, and says: “You should know about them.”

That's where an ambassador of Southampton Business Award can make a difference. Explore first; no email needed.

The heart of it

Who do you know that the world should know?

Maybe your role isn't to win the award.

Maybe it's to help us find the people who should.

I know people worth recognising

A founder building something remarkable?

A business quietly creating jobs?

A CEO leading meaningful change?

An innovator solving a real problem?

A team doing extraordinary work?

A business making a difference to its community?

Someone who should be judging?

Someone who should be speaking?

A company that could strengthen the awards as a partner?

A supplier whose capability deserves to be discovered?

Your network

How do you naturally connect with people?

Choose the one closest to you.

The role

What could an ambassador do?

Discover

Help us find achievement that deserves recognition.

Spot businesses, people and teams whose stories should be considered.

Nominate

Put deserving people and businesses forward.

Sometimes all recognition needs is someone willing to make the first nomination.

Introduce

Connect people to the right opportunity.

Potential judges, speakers, partners, suppliers, sponsors, media, entrants and other ambassadors.

Connect

Help the awards reach relevant communities.

Industry groups, business networks, professional associations, regional and international communities.

Share

Help relevant stories travel.

Share opportunities and achievements with audiences where they genuinely belong.

Represent

Be a positive point of connection in your community or industry.

Depending on the role and programme requirements, discussed with the awards team.

Nobody is expected to do everything. Choose the parts that suit you.

Find my ambassador fit

What kind of ambassador could you be?

Six quick questions, about a minute. No email needed to look.

Question 1 of 6

What best describes you?

Choose one.

Ambassador roles

Not every ambassador has the same role.

Roles are shaped with the awards team around what you know and how you like to help.

Business Ambassador

Connect businesses, founders and leaders.

Industry Ambassador

Bring knowledge and relationships within a sector.

Community Ambassador

Connect local or professional communities.

Regional Ambassador

Help identify achievement in a city, region or territory.

International Ambassador

Connect businesses and leaders across markets.

Entrepreneur Ambassador

Help discover founders and entrepreneurial stories.

Leadership Ambassador

Connect CEOs, directors and senior leaders.

Media & Content Ambassador

Help appropriate stories reach relevant audiences.

Why become an ambassador?

Relationships become more valuable when they open doors for others.

Help someone get noticed

Sometimes recognition starts with one introduction.

Someone you know may deserve an opportunity they would never put themselves forward for.

Give something back

Use your network for something positive.

Relationships become more valuable when they create opportunities for other people.

Strengthen your community

Help great people find each other.

Connect businesses, leaders, experts and communities that could benefit from knowing one another.

Discover remarkable people

The more people you connect, the more stories you discover.

You may meet entrepreneurs, leaders and businesses you might never otherwise have known.

Be part of something bigger

Help recognition travel beyond one room.

Awards celebrate achievement. Ambassadors can help find it.

Build meaningful relationships

Good introductions create better conversations.

Where relevant, there may be opportunities to build professional relationships across the wider community. Business outcomes are never guaranteed.

Trust, not reach

What does your network trust you for?

Not how many contacts you have, but why your relationships matter. This isn't an influencer programme: no follower counts, posting quotas or promo codes.

Who could you introduce?

Where could your connections make a difference?

Six short steps: your background, network, communities and how you'd like to contribute.

Step 1 of 6

Who are you?

Trust & integrity

Connection should never compromise credibility.

Ambassadors help discover people and businesses. They never influence judging, scoring, finalist or winner selection.

An ambassador introducing a nominee gives that nominee no preferential treatment. Introducing a sponsor creates no judging influence.

No ambassador relationship overrides independent awards governance.

Questions

What people ask before becoming an ambassador

Do I need a big following?+

No. We ask about trust and relevance, never follower counts. Five hundred relevant professional relationships matter more than half a million followers.

What am I committing to?+

Only the parts that suit you. Some ambassadors nominate, some make the occasional introduction, some connect a community. Nobody is expected to do everything.

Will you contact people I mention?+

No. You make introductions personally: share the link, or send the opportunity yourself. Telling us about someone never triggers a message to them.

Is there a commission or referral fee?+

Ambassadorship described here is community-based. If a commercial referral arrangement were ever offered, it would be separate, with its own written terms, and never the centre of the role.

Do ambassadors get recognition or event access?+

Nothing is promised on this page. Anything the programme offers depends on the role and programme requirements, and the awards team will tell you exactly what applies.

Can an ambassador influence who wins?+

Never. Ambassadors help discover people; independent judges decide results. Introducing a nominee, sponsor or partner gives them no preferential treatment.

What happens after I register?+

The awards team reviews what you told us and gets in touch personally to talk about the role that could suit you.

Who came to mind while you were reading this?

Someone who deserves recognition.

Someone who would make a brilliant judge.

Someone with a story worth sharing.

A company that could become a valuable partner.

Don't lose the thought.

Someone in your network deserves to be discovered.

The entrepreneur who never talks about what they've achieved.

The CEO quietly transforming a company.

The expert who should be on a judging panel.

The founder whose story belongs on a stage.

The supplier everyone recommends.

You already know them.

Maybe all that's missing is the introduction.
